I have been a big fan of Russ's channel since around the time it started. Retro gaming and emulation has long been a hobby of mine, but a lot of the content creators that operated in the space either participated in needless drama, half-assed their reviews, or worse, shilled for shady companies. Russ's videos were a breath of fresh air. Informative, fun, well-made and with a really cute cat showing up for interludes. In the roughly two years since, I've gotten to know Russ and am grateful to call him a friend. I don't remember who approached who about having me do an intro song for the channel, but just the thought of having my music open Russ's videos sent me over the moon. I was so inspired I think I demoed around a dozen songs before we finally settled on one. Spoiler alert: this is not that song! When we were bouncing demo tracks around, the one you are hearing now stuck out to both of us as a clear keeper, but there were concerns that it wasn't "retro game-y" enough, and so we opted to flesh out a more upbeat track instead.

Then Russ's fans heard that track and BOY OH BOY DID THEY HATE IT. So we revisited that sweet-ass demo that we both liked, and 6 or 7 drum fills later we ended up with what we have here today, THE theme song for my favorite channel on the world wide web.
